Almost One Year In, 14 Days to Land the Cycle

Halfway into the cycle: 14 days, 15% funded, and TinkerAtlas turns one year old next month. Where things actually stand, why I'm not panicking, and what gets unlocked if this cycle lands.
<p class="mb 2" Hey makers,</p <p class="mb 2" Quick check in halfway into the current funding period.</p <p class="mb 2" We're at 15% with 14 days to go. That's where the math sits today. Some of you have already chipped in this cycle. Thank you for being early. Early contributions do real work for momentum, beyond the dollar amount itself. The rest of this is for everyone else, and for anyone who's been waiting to see where things are heading.</p <h2 class="font bold" What last month showed us</h2 <p class="mb 2" The last cycle closed short of the full goal, but it covered the part that mattered most: servers and infrastructure. That's not a small thing. Without that coverage, the site would have gone down. Not in a dramatic "we're rebuilding" sense. Actually down. Over. And it didn't, because enough people stepped up to keep the lights on. Recurring subscribers, one time contributors, people who didn't have the budget but shared the post with someone who did. All of it counted, and I want to name it instead of just gesturing at it.</p <p class="mb 2" That's the proof point I'm carrying into this month. When it matters, this community shows up.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong Worth saying out loud while I'm here: </strong last month was the first cycle since launch where we didn't make the full goal. Every cycle before that landed. Community funded platforms get a reputation for being fragile, but the track record here has been more solid than that reputation suggests.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong There's also a milestone worth marking: </strong next month, TinkerAtlas turns one year old. From an empty database last year to 433 registered users and still growing. That's worth sitting with for a beat, especially in the middle of a funding cycle.</p <p class="mb 2" What didn't get covered was the devtools half, which is why active development has been paused since the cycle closed. The platform you're using today runs exactly as it did last week. What stopped is new feature work, including the two things sitting next up on the bench: finishing MakerDraw and building out the streaming calendar.</p <h2 class="font bold" Where this month sits</h2 <p class="mb 2" 15% at the halfway mark means there's real work ahead. I won't pretend otherwise. The funding model is monthly for a reason. Each cycle has to stand on its own, and each one is genuinely uncertain until it lands.</p <p class="mb 2" Here's the honest framing: covering servers again this cycle is the floor. That keeps TinkerAtlas online. Getting past that into devtools coverage is what restarts development and gets the roadmap moving again.</p <p class="mb 2" I'm also working on other angles to help close the gap, outside of the monthly community funding cycle itself. I don't have anything concrete to commit to yet, so I'd rather not promise specifics. The short version is that community funding isn't the only thing I'm pursuing, but it is the most direct, and it's still what this cycle depends on.</p <h2 class="font bold" How to help</h2 <p class="mb 2" The support channels stay the same.</p <ul <li <p class="mb 2" <strong PayPal:</strong <a target=" blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text blue 600 hover:text blue 800 dark:text blue 400 dark:hover:text blue 200 underline cursor pointer transition colors underline offset 2 decoration 1 decoration current/40 hover:decoration current focus:decoration current" href="https://paypal.me/makerviking" paypal.me/makerviking</a </p </li <li <p class="mb 2" <strong Ko fi:</strong <a target=" blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text blue 600 hover:text blue 800 dark:text blue 400 dark:hover:text blue 200 underline cursor pointer transition colors" href="http://ko fi.com/tinkeratlas" ko fi.com/tinkeratlas</a </p </li <li <p class="mb 2" <strong TA+:</strong Available directly on the platform</p </li </ul <p class="mb 2" If you contribute via PayPal or Ko fi and want TA+ perks, send me a message so I can match your identity and apply them manually.</p <p class="mb 2" Before getting into the case for TA+ specifically: to the people already subscribed, you're the reason I get to plan from a known floor instead of guessing month to month. Thank you. The pitch below is about expanding that base, not about undervaluing the other ways people contribute.</p <p class="mb 2" One specific note: a monthly TA+ subscription does more for the platform's stability than a one time contribution of the same amount. It's the difference between planning from a known floor versus guessing each cycle. If you've been on the fence about it, this is the cycle where that matters most.</p <h2 class="font bold" What you can do without spending anything</h2 <p class="mb 2" Three things, same as last cycle, because they still matter:</p <ol <li <p class="mb 2" <strong Use the platform.</strong Post a project. Drop a comment on someone else's. Add yourself to the map. That's what makes this place worth funding in the first place.</p </li <li <p class="mb 2" <strong Tell one maker.</strong Word of mouth has done more for TinkerAtlas than any algorithm ever has.</p </li <li <p class="mb 2" <strong Share the post.</strong A repost or a quote, wherever you live online, is free and it actually moves the needle.</p </li </ol <p class="mb 2" 14 days. 15% so far. Servers within reach. The dev pause ends when the full cycle lands. That's the picture.</p <p class="mb 2" Thanks for being here.</p <p class="mb 2" Thomas</p
