Two days left in the funding period. $57 from covering the servers. $257 from covering dev tools too. The numbers are concrete now, the gap is reachable, and the next 48 hours decide whether we close this cycle in good shape or start the next one in a deeper hole.
<p class="mb 2" Quick update, because the math has gotten specific and the clock is short.</p <p class="mb 2" We're at 23% of the funding goal with two days left in the period. That's real movement from where we were a week ago, and I want to say thank you to everyone who showed up ā every single contribution moved the needle.</p <p class="mb 2" But we're not there yet. And now the numbers are concrete enough that I can tell you exactly what each one means.</p <h2 class="font bold" Where we actually are</h2 <p class="mb 2" Right now, the funding period sits at 23%. Translated into the costs it needs to cover, here's what that looks like:</p <p class="mb 2" <strong $57 short</strong of covering the servers and core infrastructure for the period. This is the absolute baseline ā the dedicated server, the database, the backups. The bare minimum to keep TinkerAtlas online and functional for 424 makers.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong $257 short</strong of covering both the servers AND the development tools that actually let me build and maintain the platform. This is what a sustainable period looks like ā not just keeping the lights on, but keeping the work moving forward.</p <p class="mb 2" Two days. Two thresholds. Two very different outcomes.</p <h2 class="font bold" What hitting $57 means</h2 <p class="mb 2" If we close that first $57 gap, the servers get paid for and the platform stays online through the next cycle. That's the baseline. It's not flashy, but it's the difference between TinkerAtlas existing next month and a much harder conversation than this one.</p <p class="mb 2" Right now, $57 is genuinely within reach of a handful of contributions. A TA+ yearly subscription at $99 covers it with room to spare. Four or five people chipping in $10ā15 each covers it. It's a small enough number that it shouldn't be the thing standing between the platform and the servers it runs on ā but with two days left, it still is.</p <p class="mb 2" If you've been on the fence, this is the threshold where being on the fence stops being a neutral decision.</p <h2 class="font bold" What hitting $257 means</h2 <p class="mb 2" Closing the full $257 gap covers the dev tools too ā the things that make MakerDraw possible, that keep iteration moving, that let me actually build and maintain the platform people are showing up for.</p <p class="mb 2" Without those tools, development doesn't slow down ā it stops. Not "things take longer." Not "the roadmap stretches." Stops. The tools I rely on to write code, manage infrastructure, debug issues, ship features, and keep the platform healthy aren't optional extras ā they're the actual work environment. No tools, no work.</p <p class="mb 2" The platform itself keeps running on the servers if we hit $57. But nothing new gets built, and nothing that breaks gets fixed properly, until the dev tools side is covered too.</p <p class="mb 2" $200 between "the lights stay on" and "the work keeps happening." That's the gap I'd love to see closed, even if the first one is the more immediate of the two.</p <h2 class="font bold" What happens if we land at 23%</h2 <p class="mb 2" I'd rather be straight with you than dance around it.</p <p class="mb 2" If the period closes where it is now, there's no personal buffer to cover the gap with. Every previous funding period since launch has hit its goal ā that's how the model has worked, and that's why there isn't a stockpile sitting somewhere to draw from. The funding covers the cycle it's collected for, and that's the design.</p <p class="mb 2" What's different about this period is the size of the gap with this little time left. The last few cycles have hit their goals, but it's been closer to the deadline each time ā what used to land comfortably in the first half of the period is now showing up in the final stretch, or not quite showing up at all. This cycle is the furthest behind we've been at this point, and that's why I'm being direct about it.</p <p class="mb 2" So the honest version is this: if the $57 gap doesn't close, the servers genuinely could go offline at some point in the next cycle. Not the day the period closes, not as a dramatic gesture, but as a real consequence of bills coming due that can't be paid.</p <p class="mb 2" I'm not writing that to scare anyone. I'm writing it because the previous post implied this wasn't a "save the platform" situation, and the truth is closer to that than I'd like it to be. Two days ago I framed it as a sustainability problem. With $57 still uncovered on the basics, it's a more immediate problem than that.</p <p class="mb 2" If we do close the server gap but the dev tools stay short, the platform stays online but active development on TinkerAtlas pauses until those tools get funded ā either through the next period or some other way.</p <p class="mb 2" That's the honest landscape. Two thresholds, two very different outcomes, neither of them ideal but one of them much more recoverable than the other.</p <h2 class="font bold" How to help in the next two days</h2 <p class="mb 2" <strong Contribute through any channel.</strong <a target=" blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text blue 600 hover:text blue 800 dark:text blue 400 dark:hover:text blue 200 underline cursor pointer transition colors underline offset 2 decoration 1 decoration current/40 hover:decoration current focus:decoration current" href="https://ko fi.com/tinkeratlas" Ko fi</a , <a target=" blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text blue 600 hover:text blue 800 dark:text blue 400 dark:hover:text blue 200 underline cursor pointer transition colors underline offset 2 decoration 1 decoration current/40 hover:decoration current focus:decoration current" href="https://paypal.me/makerviking" PayPal</a , or <a target=" blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="text blue 600 hover:text blue 800 dark:text blue 400 dark:hover:text blue 200 underline cursor pointer transition colors underline offset 2 decoration 1 decoration current/40 hover:decoration current focus:decoration current" href="https://tinkeratlas.com/pricing" TinkerAtlas subscriptions</a all count toward the period.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong TA+ perks for Ko fi and PayPal contributors.</strong Same offer as before ā if you contribute through either channel and I can match your name or email to your TinkerAtlas account, I'll apply TA+ perks manually. Just use the same email you signed up with, or DM me to connect the dots.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong Subscriptions are the most valuable contribution right now.</strong Not because they're bigger one time amounts, but because they carry over into the next period as recurring base. A subscription today helps this period AND every period after it.</p <p class="mb 2" <strong Share with one person.</strong Same ask as last time, same reasoning. Not ten people, not a flood ā one specific maker you know who'd actually care that TinkerAtlas exists. That's the share that converts.</p <h2 class="font bold" Two days</h2 <p class="mb 2" That's all that's left in this period. $57 to keep the servers paid for. $257 to make the cycle actually sustainable.</p <p class="mb 2" If you can chip in, now's when it counts. If you can't, sharing this with one person who might is genuinely just as helpful.</p <p class="mb 2" And to everyone who already showed up this period ā thank you. Getting from 13% to 23% wasn't nothing. Let's see how far we can take the next 48 hours.</p <p class="mb 2" ā Thomas (MakerViking)</p
